How many times have you worried about the worst possible outcome, like, you entertained exactly what you DIDN’T want IN DETAIL and felt the feels and everything?
How many times have you worried about about getting negative feedback from others or be on the receiving end of backlash from family and friends because of the direction you’re taking in life?
How many times have you feared making the leap because you didn’t want to face and regret the possibility of failure?
How many times have you entertained the thoughts “What if someone calls me out and challenges me and I don’t know the answer or solution - what If I get discovered I’m a fraud?"
Take a look at the above examples again.
Notice how all the examples refer to, in some way or another, the ENTERTAINMENT OF or WORRY ABOUT the thing you fear.
Notice how it's not the thing you fear that’s really stopping you but rather it's your misused and mismanaged mind.
Stick with me here...
Here are the three fears that stop most people.
1. Fear of THE WORST CASE SCENARIO
"How many times have you worried about the worst possible outcome?"
It’s super important to be prepared and be aware of all possible outcomes but it is a complete waste of time to think and dwell on the WHAT IF’S and WHAT CAN GO WRONG - THE WORST SCENARIOS. This is a perfect example of poor mental management. You are essentially BETTING ON the worst when you dwell on the worst because what you dwell on is what you get.
Instead of focusing on the negative, look for the possibilities of things working out, look for opportunity, look for how and why things can and should go right.
When you switch from doom and gloom to unicorns and rainbows you have a far better chance of figuring things out.
Yes... I just said “unicorns and rainbows.” Don’t count on this lingo EVER being used again lol.
2. Fear Of Rejection
Because your progress in life is not dictated on other people’s approval, acceptance, or understanding of you. Their understanding is not required for your progress.
When you set your eyes and heart on an objective and move steadily toward your objective, the worries and concerns you have about not being accepted begin to melt away like butter.
Why is this is the case?
When you’re ALL in on your journey, you realize everyone else is on their own journey and most of their journeys are following engraved paths that had been handed to them by society.
So, whatever you’re up to in life, it won’t be understood and accepted by the masses. Once you accept and understand this truth, the fear of rejection becomes nonexistent.
Of course they’re not going to GET you, so, why would they accept you and cheer you on?
3. FEAR OF REGRET
“If I end this relationship too soon, I’ll regret this decision for ever.”
“If I quit my job and pursue my dreams AND fail, I’ll always regret this decision.”
“If I invest in this opportunity and it doesn’t play out how I want it to, I’ll always wish I had saved my money and did something different.”
The jargon of fear - regret based thinking.
If you CHOOSE to see your life and decisions as regretful moments based on their feedback, then you aren’t really plugged into GROWTH and the bigger picture.
When you are plugged in to growth and the bigger picture, you gain a sense of transcended clarity that surpasses most internal emotions and external pressures.
The emotions and pressures are still present but your response to them - because of your commitment and awareness - becomes manageable and redirected to solution based outcomes.
There is no room for regret when you ACCEPT your objective, path and moment to moment decisions, knowing you’ll end up in the perfect place, no matter what happens.
If you do experience regret, to a degree:
Acknowledge it, release it, take your growth mindset, ask how you can do better, and then do better. Don’t let regret stop you.
Now that I’ve planted the seeds of Mental Mastery - because that is ultimately what I am all about, (if you haven’t noticed yet) you’ll have the awareness to look beyond the three fears and into the “behind the scene” thinking mechanics of these fears.
Most fear is just poor management of your mind.
